Flute World spoke to Lonnie Davis for Jazz Appreciation Month, to discuss how she got her start in jazz, the artists who influenced her jazz style, and what jazz music means to her. 

This week was the anniversary of the first sit-in, right here in Greensboro NC,  For Black History Month, JazzArts Charlotte, seeks to offer a lens of jazz and civil rights history to illuminate the efforts of the past and demonstrate their impacts and messages for today, with workshops and a culminating performance of the groundbreaking album “We Insist!”

JazzArts Charlotte is one of five organizations to receive a substantial multi-year grant from the Knight Foundation in order to continue to make the most of digital opportunities to engage and build on their audience.

JazzArts Charlotte is excited to announce another session of online jazz workshops for youth and adults, beginning the end of January 2021. The 6 to 12-week online workshops cover topics ranging from Jazz History to instrument focused.
