A Message of Commitment
JazzArts Charlotte was established to connect the community in the spirit of America’s indigenous music, jazz, with an understanding of the challenges that have shaped our current society.
Jazz music has always been a direct reflection of our country, built on the pain and despair of African Americans and their experiences surviving centuries of systematic racism that continues today.
We feel immeasurable hurt and revulsion to witness the senseless murder of George Floyd, and so many other Black citizens that have died at the hands of injustice. JazzArts Charlotte stands with #BlackLivesMatter and other organizations and individuals who challenge systematic oppression and strive for change.
