JazzArts Charlotte is announcing the departure of Artistic Director Ocie Davis, who will leave the organization as full-time Artistic Director at the end of August 2022.

This week was the anniversary of the first sit-in, right here in Greensboro NC,  For Black History Month, JazzArts Charlotte, seeks to offer a lens of jazz and civil rights history to illuminate the efforts of the past and demonstrate their impacts and messages for today, with workshops and a culminating performance of the groundbreaking album “We Insist!”

For a decade now, JazzArts Charlotte (formerly JazzArts Initiative) has built up and bolstered the jazz music community here in the Queen City. ““I think the arts are an absolute necessity in education. The arts make a person complete, they make society complete.”
