This week was the anniversary of the first sit-in, right here in Greensboro NC, For Black History Month, JazzArts Charlotte, seeks to offer a lens of jazz and civil rights history to illuminate the efforts of the past and demonstrate their impacts and messages for today, with workshops and a culminating performance of the groundbreaking album “We Insist!”

Jazz Arts Initiative Awarded Grant
Charlotte’s Jazz Arts Initiative has been awarded a generous $30,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to support the continuation of the highly acclaimed monthly series – The JAZZ ROOM.
