JazzArts Charlotte Receives 2022 Charlotte Center City Vision Award

May 2022  —  JazzArts Charlotte will be honored with a ‘City Builders Award’ at the 2022 Vision Awards on May 26th.

The Vision Awards, presented by Charlotte Center City Partners, recognize the contributions of individuals, businesses, and organizations that are making the Center City more vibrant and extraordinary.   There are three categories of award – Vision, City Builder, and Trailblazer – all intended to recognize people and places that exemplify remarkable vision and make a difference in the city’s ongoing transformation.

“We are delighted to honor JazzArts Charlotte at the 2022 Center City Vision Awards for ensuring jazz has a home in our community through quality education and youth engagement, performance and musician support, and elevating the art form of jazz throughout Charlotte,” said Michael J. Smith, president and CEO of Charlotte Center City Partners. “The sounds and energy that these musicians bring to Uptown make our urban core a more vibrant and memorable place.”

“JazzArts Charlotte is honored to receive this tremendous acknowledgment and grateful for the ongoing work of Charlotte Center City Partners, especially in these recent transitional years. Partnering on programs like Jazz at Victoria Yards, Charlotte SHOUT!, and the innovative digital performance of ‘We Insist!’ on the Black Lives Matter mural allows us to together, offer extraordinary creative experiences for the Charlotte community. We couldn’t ask for a more meaningful community partnership,” highlights Lonnie Davis, JazzArts Charlotte CEO and Co-founder.
