JazzArts Charlotte’s virtual live music series is excited to present drummer Kobie Watkins, whose Grouptet will be performing from his albums “Movement” and “Involved”, songs intended to connect your soul with your feet..

Kobie Watkins is one of the most dynamic jazz drummers in the region. Band director by day, nicknamed “the swingmaster of Chicago” by night, you cannot help but catch his enthusiasm. Kobie has played at the JAZZ ROOM many times over the years, from the Hubert Laws tribute November 2017 to the January 2020 John Coltrane recognition.

Featuring:
Lovell Bradford, piano
Jackson Cini, tenor saxophone
William Ledbetter, bass
Ariel Mejia, trumpet
Kobie Watkins, drums

Tune in to Keep Jazz A-Live-Streaming to hear local jazz musicians and their lively sets live, straight to your living room via Facebook and YouTube Live. Premiered July 22, this YouTube video is available any time.

Performances for this series, introduced by our host Braxton Bateman, come to you from Neighborhood Theater.
