JazzArts Charlotte’s virtual live music series is excited to welcome back Charlotte-native multi-instrumentalist Luther S. Allison.

Currently an instructor at the Calhoun School in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, you might find Luther Allison at your favorite NY jazz venue, in a front porch gig, or as sideman on two of Michael Dease’s most recent CDs.  Luther not only hails from Charlotte, he started his jazz training right here at JazzArts Charlotte.

This evenings music will be studded with some originals, plus jazz standards arranged by Memphis pianists such as Donald Brown, Mulgrew Miller and Phineas Newborn.  Enjoy the jazz keys rooted in tradition with a flare of the new.

The band includes:

Luther Allison, piano
Malcolm Charles, drums
Markus Howell, alto saxophone
Butler Knowles, bass

Tune in to Keep Jazz A-Live-Streaming, Live from Crown, to hear local jazz musicians performing live, straight to your living room via Facebook Live. Our interactive performances are the perfect way for you to enjoy the music, until we are able to meet again in person.  Thank you to Crown Station for serving as our virtual performance venue.
