Jazz music and it’s most pivotal innovations were born out of jam sessions. Jazz is a communal music, where musicians incorporate call and response, and bounce ideas off of each other. This is the essence of jazz music. So a public jam session is simply a musical get-together where musicians come together to play jazz standards. Everyone is invited. Join in the experience.

Make Music Day is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city, and over 1000 cities worldwide. Open to every kind of musician, young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion, to share music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. Activities are FREE to get everyone involved in making music all day long! Learn more about #MakeMusicDayCharlotte events on June 21
