Ascension Lutheran Church presents an evening of jazz standards and jazz interpretations of familiar hymns to support this year’s beneficiary, The JazzArts Academy.
Join us at the fourth-annual “Hymnal Meets Jazz” concert, a jazz ensemble benefit hosted by Ascension Lutheran Church. The concert is a fundraising event, and this year’s beneficiary is The JazzArts Academy, the education pillar of JazzArts Charlotte, a Charlotte nonprofit made up of educators, cultural arts patrons, students, musicians, and individuals dedicated to the continued development of Charlotte’s arts heritage. Our fundraising goal is $5,000, 100% of which will be donated to The JazzArts Academy to use for financial aid tuition assistance.
On Friday, September 29 at 7 p.m., a jazz combo selected by Ascension Church, will perform a medley of jazz standards and jazz interpretations of familiar hymns. This will be an outdoor concert. In the event of rain we will move the concert into the sanctuary. If you are not able to attend but still want to support the event, select the “Donate” option in the Tickets section. The JazzArts Academy offers a wide range of programs facilitated by expert teaching artists, designed to engage students of all ages, abilities, and interests. Since 2011, The JazzArts Academy has served over 50,000 students, grades K-12 throughout the Charlotte region. A wide variety of hands-on jazz workshops and music educational opportunities are offered throughout the year, including jazz and Latin jazz bands and ensembles.
