Twenty years ago, our founder and president, Lonnie Davis, was forced to evacuate her beloved hometown of New Orleans as the devastating storm approached. What began as a temporary escape turned into a permanent relocation — and an unexpected new chapter in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Beginning July 1, Lonnie Davis takes on a new role as President of the Board of Directors for the leading jazz organization in the world, the Jazz Education Network.

JazzArts Charlotte is proud to be a recipient and member of South Arts’ inaugural cohort of Southern Cultural Treasures, a multi-year initiative funding 17 BIPOC arts organizations across the Southeastern region with $6 million, in partnership with the Infusion Fund.

JazzArts Charlotte is one of five organizations to receive a substantial multi-year grant from the Knight Foundation in order to continue to make the most of digital opportunities to engage and build on their audience.
