SUMMARY:SPECIAL EDITION: Women in Jazz
DESCRIPTION:An all-female congregation of world-class instrumentalists brings the swing for a three-day JAZZ ROOM residency\, in celebration of Women’s History Month. \nFEATURING\nEllen Rowe\, piano & bandleader\nFrancesca Remigi\, drums (last minute replacement for Allison Miller\, due to illness)\nMarion Hayden\, bass\nSharel Cassity\, saxophone \nThe JAZZ ROOM provides a casual and intimate setting reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear. \nThis evening we celebrate the females that are instrumental in jazz historically and today. Women like Mary Lou Williams\, Alice Coltrane\, and Melba Liston have been incredibly influential in the development of jazz\, whether ghostwriter behind the scene or trailblazer despite it. Some were recognized in their own time\, but others only discovered later. This is a unique opportunity to hear a full ensemble of all-star female jazz musicians from the region and beyond\, and to celebrate the unique joy and energy they bring to the music. \nGROUPS OF 10+:  Call JazzArts Charlotte at 704-334-3900 for group discount. \nNote on COVID Policies:\nAs an affiliate organization of Blumenthal Performing Arts\, JazzArts Charlotte will be following BPA COVID-19 venue policies and safety guidelines throughout the season.  At this time\, masks are not required at the Stage Door Theater and the bar has returned. \nThank you to our special event sponsor\, Mayer Brown. \nAnd thank you to the program sponsors and supporters\, who each bring jazz alive in Charlotte:  Infusion Fund\, Knight Foundation\, Doris Duke Foundation\, North Carolina Arts Council\, and O’s Place Jazz. \nNote on COVID Policies at this time: As an affiliate organization of Blumenthal Performing Arts\, JazzArts Charlotte will be following BPA COVID-19 venue policies and safety guidelines throughout the season. Due to the current COVID-19 safety requirements\, masks will be required at all times inside the venue and we are unable to offer food and beverage to JAZZ ROOM patrons at the Stage Door Theater.   See details.
