SUMMARY:JAZZ ROOM Presents: Sean Jones\, Dizzy Spellz featuring Brinae Ali
DESCRIPTION:JAZZ ROOM Special Edition: Sean Jones\, Dizzy Spellz featuring Brinae Ali\nJanuary 16th & 17th \nTrumpet master Sean Jones and renowned tap artist Brinae Ali join forces in the groundbreaking piece “Dizzy Spellz”\, a riveting tribute to Dizzy Gillespie presented through an Afro-futuristic lens. Blending jazz\, tap dance\, Bebop\, and Hip Hop\, this performance intersects cultural and spiritual dilemmas within the African Diaspora through the music of Dizzy Gillespie. \nSean Jones (born May 29\, 1978\, in Warren\, Ohio) is a celebrated American jazz trumpeter\, composer\, bandleader\, and educator noted for his soulful tone and expressive improvisation. After earning his master’s at Rutgers University\, he became lead trumpeter of Wynton Marsalis’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra from 2004 to 2010. He’s released several acclaimed albums on Mack Avenue Records and has performed with jazz luminaries including Nancy Wilson\, Gerald Wilson\, Marcus Miller\, and more. A dedicated educator and leader\, he holds the Richard and Elizabeth Case Chair in Jazz Studies at the Peabody Institute and serves as Artistic Director for Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz program. \n  \nThe JAZZ ROOM provides a casual and intimate setting with tables and a full bar\, reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear. \nThank you to our JAZZ ROOM contributors: The City of Charlotte\, O’s Place Jazz\, and Akers Foundation.
