Jazz Drumming Workshop

Spring 2021

Mondays 6:30-8:00pm ET, 6-week session Feb 8 – Mar 15
Online Class

“The Evolution of Jazz Drumming Through the Music of Miles Davis” is a 6-week course that dives deep into the drumming of Philly Joe Jones, Tony Williams and many other drummers who played in Miles’ ensembles from the 1950’s to 1980’s.

Miles Davis was a pioneer with his music. In each season of his new musical direction, Miles hand picked the musicians in his ensembles. As Miles’ music progressed and evolved, so did the drummers and their approach to the drums.

Through listening, analyzing and applicable exercises this course will enable each student to understand and integrate the various styles of each of Miles’ legendary drummers into their own playing.
