About the Youth Jazz Workshop: The JAI Youth Jazz Workshop (YJW) is for students in middle through high school who want to continue improving their individual skills within the context of an intermediate level jazz ensemble.The 10-week (2 hour) sessions provide students the opportunity to explore their individual skills within a supportive and relaxed ensemble environment, with a concentration on exploring jazz styles, standard repertoire and improvisation. The workshop brings together students from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels to create a fun and motivating applied learning experience. The workshop is open to saxophones (all woodwinds), trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, and drums.
Who: Students, grades 8-12, with at least two (2) years experience in a school band or private music lessons are eligible to audition When: Saturday, February 4, 2012, 2pm Where: Spirit Square Application Fee: $10 (due at the time of audition) Workshop Tuition: $200 for 10-week session Audition Requirements: Click Here
The YJW rehearses on Sunday afternoons beginning in October. Meeting times and location to be announced.
