Nurturing the Passion for Music Through Education
JAI will devote its core programming to the following educational activities:
Jazz in Schools Program: Is a community-based program offered to selected middle and high schools to coincide with the academic calendar. This program is intended to be offered once a week before or after school. Student concert performances will be held twice per year, during the winter and spring months, to showcase students' acquired skills. Jazz in Schools will also offer In-school assembly programs to students at every grade level.
Youth Jazz Orchestra: This project will provide Charlotte region students with the opportunity to gain valuable performance experience and obtain musical training in an ensemble setting with experienced jazz performers and teachers. The program is designed to run in conjunction with the academic calendar and provide opportunities for young players to rehearse once a week and perform in 5 concerts a year.
