The Queen's Collective is the Affiliate Jazz Ensemble, representing JAI's organizational commitment to jazz as a living, ever-relevant art form. This all-star ensemble comprises some of the finest performers/composers at work in jazz today. They have been noted for their outstanding original compositions and their creative approach to the American Songbook.
Current Performing Schedule
The Queens Collective can be heard every Wednesday at 10pm at The Mill in NoDa The Queen's Collective is an exceptional modern-progressive jazz unit that, in two years, has solidified itself as the premier jazz ensemble in the Queen City, Charlotte NC. Members of the QC are considered to be some of the most accomplished jazz artists in the country. This group includes composers, band leaders, artists who perform for jazz audiences worldwide, as well as dedicated clinicians and educators. The group also boasts of a 2010 Grammy Award winner. The group has performed for a number of venues, festivals, and special events throughout the Southeast region. Some of their most notable recent performances have been the Salem Jazz Festival, Sunset Jazz Festival, Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro in New Orleans, LA, and Studio 281 in Atlanta GA. The Queen’s Collective has performed as an opening act for esteemed educators and speakers such as Dr. Cornell West, Comedian/Activist Dick Gregory, and CNN Political Analyst Donna Brazile. They are also invited to perform regularly for Charlotte cultural functions and exclusive corporate events.
